let the dog bite or shoot them?

i jus came from a vacation a week ago i had a lot of fun.. but our dog really bothers me alot. he bites my niece's finger which we didnt know what the cause is... Tootsie is an old dog we wanted to shoot him but my mother says that she is pitied to shoot him she says to let the dog die in a natural way but now im angry at tootsie and i wanted to shoot him.. What could be the best solution for this pls. help us...

I know the dog is older, but have you thought that you can train her to not bite? Could the child be doing something the dog doesn't like that is causing the biting? I would not put the dog down unless it is very ill. You can always keep the dog away from your niece when she visits.

my niece has a bread on hand.. our dog is such a paranoid... tha's why....
