It has been a practice through the world and in most of the communities, that the girl has to leave all behind of her parental home and start a new begining in her hubby's place. In india, sometime girls are also refered as parayadan. But uniquely, in the Nair and Bunt communities in south India, its just the opposite. Its the groom who has to leaving the house and settling in the bride's place. On these two practices, why has the first one caught more popularity compared to the other?

In the US both side usually leave their home long before getting married. I think it is weird to live with either the husbands or wife's family. The older people should have prepared for their care when they were young and let the young people have their own lives without burdens.
