Squinting your eyes

how come when a person cant see they squint there eyes? wouldnt that make less space to see out of? I need help with this question. Let me know what you think. THANKS

It actually makes it easier to see becase you can concentrate on something, and dont have distractions of all of the other world. Thanks!!
