my baby got sick

my baby got sick,he got this amoeba from water.what we suspect was he got while taking a bath because he could drink some water.or he ate something dirty.he was confined in the hospital for a day.he was given 2 1000ml dextrose and 5 different medicines.its been really hard for us to take care of my baby.but the big question for me is,does the amoeba stay in the body after the treatment.just as what i heard from my friend.but the doctor had told me that it dies and would go out off the body.i need professional advise guys
