Its not the movies that are asking for songs, but the Indian culture that is asking for songs in films. We have a rich tradition of song and dance and perhaps that has got itself carried over to the movie era too. Nothing wrong with songs in movies as long as they don't hinder the flow of the story and are not a pain to the ear and eye.

Without song, there is no life. Movies are for entertainment purpose. When two things are mixed up, then a masala movie is created. We are so fond of songs, we can not accept a movie without song. So, Indian movie needs songs to be get entertainment.

It's not in our culture. Indian culture is not the same everywhere. It's different. In Indian Bengali movies there are no songs. THere are songs in most of the Hindi movies because Indian audiences are not mature yet. They can't live without songs. So there are songs. But yeah there shouldn't be any songs in those movies.

i don't think that they are much bothered about this.
this trend is being followed since years and u know changes are very painful and bringing change is very difficult.
so they r accustomed to making songs and then bringing them into the film.
this is a unique style of bollywood.
so i don't think that they r going to change this albeit they have to invest so much.
this is hopeless in many circumstances and the scene does not needs a song at all then it becomes boring, also if the lyrics or the music is bad then it is boring to see it for 5 mins.
have a nice day.
