Remember me?! I DID IT! 13 Inches GONE!

I will be sending my oldest daughter's hair off. Exactly 10 inches, which as you said, is the shortest you can send. I would grow my hair out and chop it off, but it has to be virgin hair (non treated) and you know me and my dye! lol. Eventually I'll get 10 inches of my own color though :P

What a great thing to do. I saw a little boy yesterday who was obviously going through chemotherapy as he didn't have a hair on his head, not even an eyebrow....my heart went out to him and his family. I have never heard of doing this before but unfortunately I can't help as I don't have 10 inches of hair to lose and if I did they wouldn't want it as I'm afraid these days it is almost always coloured. I will however remember this, you just never know when someone I know might go and get their long locks cut.

My sister just did this a couple of weeks ago. Here it is called Locks of Love and the hair is donated to make wigs for children. She cut off over a foot of hair!

Good for you. You did something that will help others and not hurt yourself. Like giving blood etc... people should help their fellow man. Bravo to you!

My husband has been donating his hair for the last 12 years. He lets his hair grow to his waist then cuts it off and donates to our local children's hospital for kids who lost thier hair to chemo & radiation. Kudos to you, we need more giving people in this world like you!

i havent got as much hair as you had but it is nice to see someone doing something for a good cause, charity begins at home as the saying goes, ive done my bit for charity occasionally its nice to know your helping out someone else or a lot of other people.

That's great that you did that. We used to give out free haircuts where I worked back in Missouri, when they would choose to donate their hair. It really is for a good cause. I've never donated my own hair because I find it impossible to take care of when it gets that long. I just can't find the time it takes everyday to even brush it all because I have so much and it gets so tangled when it's long. I am trying to do it right now, but I wear it in a ponytail so much that I am afraid I might end up damaging it too much to donate it. So I'm afraid I probably won't make it that long. But I've cut both of my sisters' hair to donate. I took 16 inches off my older sister's hair one time to donate. It really made her feel good to do something nice for someone else.

My sis in law just did that too ! I think its great ! She had hair past her butt all her life and it is a bright red to, I sure there are some little red headed girls out there that will adore it. My hair isnt long enough yet but soon !

i havent catch you here. im just a newbie. but i admire you for your deed. cutting your hair for a couse is a real plus factor. i would love to do such but i think itll just be hard cause im from asia. but all my claps are for you! you did it well. bless you!
