silly posts outweighing the quality ones???

I really agree with you. It also bugs me a lot when people ask a random question in the title and then offer nothing in the discussion. Example (made up) Do u prefer chocolate or vanilla??? and then in the discussion box is only ??? If someone starts a discussion I always like to know their own context for creating the topic and what their views are and why they are curious to know mine. I just move on from those discussions for the most part but it is frustrating to watch them get tons of (mostly one liner) responses while genuine topics I've started get ignored. Oh it bugs me also when the original poster replies to each response with nothing more than "You have been positively rated, please rate me positively".

You are right some silly posts get more responses than quallity posts...i think the reason should be that the friends of those who post the discussion must respond to those discussion..they post the discussion and respond themselves..this is what must be happening..but they dont look at any quality post and they are left behind unresponded..

you see,people talks about good quality discussion/post but who really giving any post in quality discussion.thing is that no body wants there brain to put on work and they search for easy silly discussion so that they can easily put there silly input in it.i have noticed silly discussion like "what would u do if you get $1 million on road","whats your daily routine" blah blah and discussion about mylot queries get more response.i got one too around 126..=)) and no body replied to my serious discussion ..just few friends may be they did just because i give post in there discussion..=))

This is a simple logic. Whenever I tried to post something to really get some opinion, I got "0 response". But if ask something simple or even silly, I will get atleast 5 response. People don't want to break their head over every post, they want to reply as many as possible, so the latter is a better option.

Silly post and quality post are like good versus evil you cant end the war. I think however that quality post is wining the war there are more quality post these days than silly ones. They wont take over or shadow the quality ones i dont think they will however do that.

it seems to me that ur a thief......i think u hve stole my thiught because i was thinkin the same last night when i was on mylot............. i do think very similar to u.........i found very absurd that is someone starts a idiotic dicussion it is well recvd but quality ones r not even bothered by most members........ which make me feel wasted on mylot force me to think that i'm wasting my time on mylot...........

It would depend on your circle of friends wouldn't it?? Like if you had 50 friends and you all commented on each others posts then it wouldn't be hard to get a lot of replies. Even if you just posted something silly and short. To be honest I think it comes down to "who you know" here on mylot ... not what the quality of your work is like.
