This is not a joke I just read it from a Newspaper. For those who like to drink cold water, It is nice to have a cup of cold of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. once this sludge reacted with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster that the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after meal.

You only read the news headline, but you did not read the comment about it. If its really true, its been long that this warning be published to the public, why only now. And there is no facts that supporting this statement. Since our body is enable to produce heat, any cold liquid will not stay cold for inside our body. Don't believe on everything you read from the news, you have to make research first. But thanks for the warning.

You read it in a newspaper or a gossip magazine? If it was a newspaper they should be shut down for writing such nonsense. http://www.hoax-slayer.com/cold-water-cancer.html

Hi. I checked on this on the urban legends page, and as I suspected, it's a myth. Here's the link: http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/coldwater.asp I am not questioning your credibility, but the persons who started this myth did a good job of sounding convincing. So, if you are not really in the medical field and am not familiar with the physiology of the human body, you can really get convinced about this. As for the newspaper, sorry, I think they should have checked on the story first before printing it. The newspapers, being in media, have the duty to give the RIGHT information to their readers.

Wow you really research on this thing huh! Well I too have received lots of this info before. I even received this from a text message from somewhere. I just hope that the this is hoaxed since I am very fond of drinking cold water after meals. Although very recently I am just drinking plain water not the refrigerated one or with ice since the weather here has been very cold.

I've done ALOT of reading up lately about digestion etc. and I have seen nothing that states that you will get cancer. It is indeed a fact that warmer liquids help with the digestive system and that colder liquids slow it down. As for cancer, please name something that isn't supposedly going to give us cancer nowadays!

People say that everything we do can cause cancer. I have also heard that it is inside all of us just waiting to be activated. I drink water after and during a meal and I don't think I will stop just because someone thinks it will cause cancer.

In the newspaper, well hardy a reliable source. If there were any evidence the paper would quote their source. Newspapers are full of lies. Lets just stop and think if what they are saying makes any kind of sense. The claim seems to be that cold water will solidify oily stuff, REALLY? I don't think there will be more than a few degrees of cooling from a glass of water and oil doesn't freeze that quickly. Then the claim is that the residue of breakdown will both be absorbed quicker than other food and also line the intestine, well it cannot do both; once absorbed it is no longer in the intestine. Then, despite being broken down and absorbed it will miraculously turn to fat! This is obviously written by someone with an open mind - the kind of open mind that is better of closed for repair! They are just scare-mongering the gullible. all the best urban

i think the theory is well defined and it just can be also given or understood by an ordinary person that cold water will slodify the oil in the meal and will be attach to your heart or somewhere in your body and that will really give you some bad future. so ill suggest everyone here that try to avoid doing such things.. it would really be bad for us in future , may some new emerging illness will occour or something like it. well now i think that must also be happen with me that after having really oily stuff i used to have chilled milk shake and that really put up my weight ... this could be the reall reason ... now ill be very carefull of having stuff like this and then chilled drinks and all.. Thanks alot for sharing this information with us. Regards, Sam
