I would like to put it this way. When a child is born, one hundred percent in decision making is done by the parents, the child's has absolutely zero participation in the decisions.
As the child grow, there is an incremental increase in his participation in decision making, the parents an incremental decrease. As the child matures, the increase continues with a corresponding decrease in parents participation. This will go on until the situation is reversed. Parents have zero participation in decision making other than advices and counsels and the child now an adult has 100% say in the decision making process, full freedom, that is.
In between this two ends, is the teen-age years, when parents still have a say and the children have limited freedom. The degree of limitation is on a case to case basis depending on the children's maturity. There can be no blanket absolutes in terms of age. The parents know best.

ya...the parents know wat s good and bad...they do all for the best of their children...so its advisable for the adolescents to hear their parents words...

To me teenager should not be absolute freedom. Because if they given, at the long run they misuse to thier own ruin. Example abound accross the about youth who had been given this total freedom and they misuse it. I t will be very rare to see youth that will succeed with the status of absolute freedom. though when youth continue to grow up, they need to be given some iota of freedom but not to be totally to thier own decisions. Parents that do so found themself to blame at last.

I feel that the amount of freedom given to a teenager varies by the teenager in quesiton. One cannot just say that they either need more or less. I know some teenagers who deserve more freedoms, yet I know some teenagers who deserve less freedoms. The amount of freedom granted should be based on the particular teen's maturity level, ability to follow the guidelines set forth by thier parents and community, and their ability to accept responsibility for their actions!

we cannot judge the mentality of teenage people....so the freedom level should be a limited one and it s depend upon the parents mentality too....

Yeah, it depends upon the person. Giving freedom is like giving options. Not many people know how to choose. It would be a sane idea to give a 2 year old kid freedom to move around everywhere, the degrees of freedom for every person is limited depending upon his maturity. This need not be done voluntarily, the society around him automatically imposes that him, as in the case of a kid, which would not be allowed to go out of the house.

yes, they should be. What matters is what suits to your culture or not. accordingly most parents try to moderate behaviour of their children. If that constraint of culture is removed, how would you like to place your question? Then teenagers are ultimately people, they SHOULD have opinions, freedom of action and responsible for their actions.
