No, it won't prevent it but it is a start. However, parents must also furnish healthy diets at home and encourage exercise. Too many children today are indoors and in front of the computer or game systems. They need to spend time outdoors playing sports for fun, riding a bike, or any other physical exercise. Also keep in mind that some childhood obesity has medical causes. (I'm an R.N.)

I agree completely, and would just like to add that the role of parents and what they teach their children about nutrition and a healthy lifestyle is paramount to any other influence on our children. And although obesity is often associated with a poor diet as allowed/provided by the parents, their are many "skinny kids" out there who are not being taught proper diet and exercise skills as well. I think everyone could stand to eat less "junk" and more healthy, whole and nutrient-rich foods.

No, I don't believe it will, although I'm totally for banning junkfood in schools. I don't think foods that are not healthy and conducive to learning should be sold in schools. I think childhood obesity problems, more often than not, are the fault of the parents not feeding their children properly and not ensuring their children are exercising or leading active lives.

Only while they are not at school, you cant control what they eat before or after
