If you could have ONLY a washer or a dryer, which would you choose? After not having a dryer for so long, I think I'd stick with no dryer. I can wash the clothes and hang them out to dry, they are a little crunchy though! lol
I will be a happy girl when my new dryer gets delivered today. They have been working on it, but it just keeps breaking and thank goodness it is still under warranty. So, let me know which one you'd prefer to keep.

Well Ive been without a washer and dryer most my life. Though now I have both. There have been times when I had a washer and no dryer or a dryer and no washer. If you have no dryer yes its true you can hang them out to dry, but for most people this means only in the summer. Trust me I know what its like to have to hang clothes around the house to dry them. I kinda preferred having a dryer and no washer. Winter or summer I can fill the bath with water and wash my clothes then toss them in the dryer. They dry a whole lot faster too. Idk, this is just me and my opinion.

I didn't think about washing them in the bath tub. It is kinda cold around here now, so I have been hanging clothes around the house. Thank you for your response.

Like you, I find it easier to hang clothes than to hand wash them. Going to the laundromat is a pain, too. I actually like towels that get crisp and fragrant in the sun; sheets, too. I've found during the past 3 decades of home ownership that dryers outlast washers 2 to 1. I've had to replace washers, but not dryers.

I would definately prefer to keep the washer over the dryer. I would just buy a few racks to hang the clothes on to dry.
I actually heard somewhere that it is better to not put your clothes in the dryer anyway because they fade and wear faster.

I've heard that also about fading. Thanks for responding.

I would prefer to keep the washer, because I can always hang the clothes somewhere and let them dry naturally. I've never heard of natural washing before. LOL

Oh I really do feel for you, especially with a little one! It really stinks because you really have to think ahead and get stuff washed because it takes a while to dry when hanging! Hope it gets fixed quick!

I think that was the worst thing, trying to plan what the baby would wear and then hoping he wouldn't mess it up too bad throughout the day. Thanks for responding.

For our family of four (including two teenaged girls), I do laundry every day... it's the only way that I can keep up! LOL I would absolutely part with my dryer but not my washer. For the sake of energy costs and efficiency, I actually use my dryer as little as possible and I only wash with cold water. Unless it's freezing cold and snowing, I use the clothesline outside (generally from about April until around October/November) and, throughout the winter, I have a standing wire clothes dryer for my laundry room (one of those kind that looks a bit like a standing triangle with wings...lol).
I hate when clothing shrinks (especially the girls' jeans... I have one daughter that is probably going to hit at least 6' tall and she has enough trouble finding pants long enough to begin with!), so I hang their stuff to dry. A full load of laundry on the rack will be dry by the next morning so I don't find it to be difficult... but line drying is still my favorite - mostly for the fresh scent and really white whites :)

I will line dry newer shirts because they do have th tendency to shink, which like you, I hate. Some of the clothes that my one year old received for his birthday he was only able to wear once because they shrank so badly. Thank you for responding.

Although I try to hang my clothes outside when the weather allows, I use my dryer a lot! The only time I have to do laundry is in the evening and the clothes get tossed in the dryer rather than hung on the line.

i would have to pick a washer, because like you said you can hang things out to dry. i have lived with only a washer for 2 years in an apartment, and i hung my closes out to dry for 8 months out of the 12 months, during the winter i would just go to the laundry mat to do my laundry.
