I haven't been a member to mylot very long, but i have noticed one thing that has been bothering me. When i'm looking for a discussion i see alot of people down grading Americans. I just want to let you know that all American's aren't the same as our president. You also need to understand that no one is perfect either. Why down grade America when your country isn't perfect either? And it's not fair to the American's that see this ugly post. You can't judge all American's just based on what their president decides to do. And our president wouldn't be this way, if it wasn't for all the terrorism that has been going on around here. We had people die here too. And we lost alot of loved ones. Someone attached America... and it hurt us all on 9/11. But we don't here anything about why all this mess started. So why say bad things about all Americans?

Great discussion! I also want to add that there seems to be an increase in the number of posts that are downgrading Americans, President Bush, and the U.S. How is it that average citizens in so many other countries are "experts" on U.S. foreign policy all of a sudden? You're right, nobody has to particularly care for our current president, but everyone (including Americans) needs to remember that the decisions he makes are in response to terrorist acts that were carried out against the U.S. and other free countries. Most important, remember that the President alone is not to blame. He was ELECTED for 2 terms, which means that somebody supported him. And he DOES NOT have the power to act without the support of Congress. He cannot decide on his own to start a war without the support of Congress. Our government was designed to avoid unilateral decisions and monarchy. One further comment about the posts bashing Americans: if we, as Americans, dare to post a discussion with even a hint of negativity about any other country, we get bombarded with comments about how we are being racist and discriminatory. This happens OFTEN with the Indian population of MyLot, perhaps because their are so many Indian users here. If we are racist for discussing a negative aspect of India, then aren't they just as "racist" as we are with some of their posts? I don't care to start a war here. I am proud of my country and I respect that others are proud of theirs. I don't judge based on nationality or any other means. I judge people based on their human qualities only. We should all be careful of how we phrase our comments and discussions so that we don't sound negative about other people.

This really is a good topic and it could be a great discussion. I wish that more of the people who have all of these anti-American comments would join in and debate this. I don't want to fight and argue, but this site should be a place to discuss and exchange opinions and ideas. Why is it that people just want to post a quick comment and then move along to the next? No one learns anything or broadens their knowledge that way.

Mylot is bound to have some members that will that will show disrespect to others, as will all forums unfortunately. However, I have not noticed any great display of dislike towards americans or specifically towards any other nationality. I would expect the percentage of american members to be fairly high due to the long established popularity of the internet in the United states, so most members must have some american friends in their friends list.

Some people are and always have been jealous of America so they take their shots. Some people see us as conceited jerks so they take their shots at us. Some people just hate Bush because it's the cool thing to do. What makes me sick is people claiming to hate him but they don't even know why. I have seen at least one post here by an American all up in a dander swearing not to vote for Bush next time. Well Moron he can't run again so nobody can vote for him. I don't have a beef with anti Bush people if they know why they don't like him and can say so.

lol. I'm laughing at the moron you said that won't vote for bush next time. you are totally correct on that point. Thank you for helping me understand that most people hate bush just because other people do also.

For so many they want someone else to blame for things. It's far easier to bash another country or another countries citizens then it is to look at their own country and see the faults within. It's that simple. They don't want to see what is really going on. They just want to have something to complain about. Since they don't want to complain about their own country they have to find another country to pick on. America is one of the biggest out there and we have made our share of mistakes, after all we are run by humans. It easy to take pot shots when the target is well known and easily seen. It makes them feel bigger and badder because they could say that without reprecusions. They don't realize that we don't argue back because we can tell that what they are saying isn't worth bothering. It's misinformation for the most part and the rest is just pointing fingers. Well when you point one at someone else you have 3 more pointing back at you. They seem to forget that part.

Even before the war and George W being in office, a lot of people look down upon Americans, it's kind of a fact of life now unfortunately.

There's not much that we can do. As we are americans and we get blamed for everything... even if it's not our faults.

You are absolutely right. Most of the politicians every where wreak of nasty stuff and when I go to America every few months to visit my hubby, most people are warm and hospitable, I have even made friends with some great red necks even f I don't agree necessarily with their political views, we love to sit and debate about them and have such fun man. I am no liberal either lol, I AM AS MAD AND INDEPENDENT AS THEY COME LOL, THAT IS WHY YO CAN STICK ME ANY WHERE AND i WILL GEL WITH the locals lol. I love you all man, every good person on Mylot and I want to be friends with every onne who will accept me.
