What exactly is this "space" thing? Is it a place where he can play video games or whatever his hobby is, or is it a personal box of silence that you won't be able to enter again?
What does your partner really mean when he/she says "I need my space"?
Have you said it to your partner? What did you mean when you said those words?

You know, that's a fantastic question. I've heard that line twice in my life, and both times what it really meant was "I want to date other people."
Now, I certainly have things that I do that don't necessarily involve whoever I'm dating, but I never use the line "I need my space to..." They know I'm a musician and writer and whatnot, and because I have nothing to hide, I tell them precisely what's going on. Sheesh. Lovely stuff.

hi voldemort! i'm harry potter.. hehe. seriously, i think honesty is the best policy here. if you wanna see other people it's better to say so. plain and simple. better tell the truth than to keep someone guessing.

why do you need the quiet time? is she a nagger? Hehe. seriously though, how do you know if "i need space" means he just really needs alone time or if it actually means he's saying goodbye in a nice way?
