What do you think about it, should it be legal? I sure think so, don't you think the record-prices are way too high? And we still buy records don't we? And besides doesn't must of the income come from gigs?
Some say sweden (where I live) is something of a filesharer utopia, and that is partly true, it's still ilegal but most people do it and the police doesn't really care, in fact most of them do it themselves. You may have heard of the piratebay incident, when american authorities pushed the swedish minister of justice to move against the pirate bay, which proved to be a mayor error that broke the law. By the way the piratebay got back online in a matter of days anyway.

Indeed, I believe it should be legal. A downloaded song, or album, does not equal a lost sale. Just because I can download a song, or album, doesn't mean that I would've went out and bought it because I couldn't download it. Furthremore, all of the CD purchases I've made in the last year have been a direct result of file sharing. I would've never heard of any of my favorite artists had it not be for file sharing. As for the PirateBay, that's amazing. Them shutting the PirateBay down only furthered the file sharing "movement" by making the people trying to stop file sharing look even worse then they already do. Considering that they seized servers which had absolutely nothing to do with file sharing in the raid. Now the "Pirate Party" has spread to many countries outside of Sweden, when before I believe that it was exclusive to Sweden.

i agree that filesharing opens up a whole new world of music but it's hardly a justification to steal from that artist. I don't know, i used to file share when i had a decent connection but i also purchased cd's from the bands i liked to support them.

well that is exactly how it is today, you may use a file as you choose as long as you have the permission to do it, though I prefer the idea, from the pirate-party, that you should be allowed to share files but never to sell files that you don't have the copyright to use.

Filesharing rules. It might as well be legal since everybody does it and nobody gets arrested for it. Since everybody has access to the internet, everybody can share files, and there aren't enough jails in the world to arrest all the people who share files. Also, if I like a band a lot, then I usually go out and buy a CD because of the music that I have downloaded.

Well there was a poster just before the election here in sweden that said pretty much "The new filehsraing-law gave us a million new criminals, was that law necesary?" We had just gotten an increased filesharing-law so, and by the way, one million, out of 9 million people, thats quite alot.

I'm definitely for allowing file sharing. As for the artists involved in the musical aspect, come on.. have you seen the price of a concert ticket? They're not hurting for money!

as far as you are sharing or downloading non-copyright stuffs from the filesharing its legal.. the moment you do it its illegal.. its like picking up something from store whcih is free without paying for it, and picking up something from store which is not free without paying for it.

I think i never heard some news of someone sharing a copyrighted file or something... so i guess its ok to do it in the internet. But some countries are sctrict on filesharing like Britain or some parts of Europe. I tooked a class about copyrighted rules regarding using internet as a tool. The most strict about implementing rules about giving files from the internet is Europe.

I think file sharing is ilegal, expecially when there is a copyright material that also share among others, But i'm also still doing the filesharing, expecially downloading fromt the filesharing, not uploading, since my internet bandwith is very very narrow. In my country software manufacture that allready trying to sweep ilegal filesharing maybe microsoft, the others still wait and see situation.
