Why speak of the devil?

Have you ever heard some1 say: "speak of the devil". I wonder where this saying came from. Why isnt it some1 else? Why the devil?

hmm thats true 0.o maybe its because in religion the devil is the source of bad and bad things can be shocking...and speak of the devil is something you would say if your shocked.
