references to time that we use in everyday life tend to diverge in this. We see ourselves as moving through time and yet we also refer to time passing. Which is true? If time is a line does the line move whilst we stay still or do we move along the line?

it's us who are moving along with time...
without ous the time has no meaning...
both time and matter are related to one another in this material world...

Without us, trees still grow, the sun still rises and rocks change shape as the weather wears them. Its true that without someone to think about it, there is perhaps no concept of time but there is still the phenomenon it manifests.

Well, either way is the same, whether we are moving through time or time is moving through us, time hasn't stopped, right?

Time is a measurement of Time. The moments in one' life is measured by time.
Time is also related to actions and memory. We measure the time according to the memory power we have.
We can go back to recollect till our memory permits.Hence time is one which is a measurement with in the capacity of human brains.Beyond that the time exists but we are not able to perceive it.

I will go for both, I think it depends on the activities that you are doing. Example, here on MyLot, time really flies, you just sit and then sooner or later you will just realize that you are almost 3 hours in front of the computer posting. But there are times like when you are travelling and you're really thinking that it's taking you too much time to get to where you want.
