I am into a long distance relationship now for three years with my boyfriend of four years, so there's no doubt about the difficulty of missing him a lot and question the fate we shall achieve. Still, we hang on despite the obstacles. He's currently based in the Navy in California.
There's really no big deal when it comes to communication because we're so lucky that we're equipped with technology. Phone calls, text messaging and e-mails are our weapons to fight the lost times we spent without each other's company. Though the number of calls or messages or e-mails subsided now, we still send at least one-liner e-mails to compensate it.
Patience is really a virtue when it comes to this kind of relationship, so you really have to think over if the two of you can wait before getting into it.

Isn't it difficult knowing that he's in the navy and he can be sent all over the globe for assignments?

i've been in several long distance relationships, and they were tough for me. i love being able to see someone whenever i want to share something good or even something bad. i think they can work (my SO and i were long distance for a year), but it will definitely alter the type of relationship you have.

well my story in short is i was with a man for 11 yrs that i had 2 kids together with. he was very verbal abusive. everyday i would pray hat god would send me someone that would treat me and the kids with respect and treat us the way we deserved. i got my computer back in 2005 just for making cds and such. well one day i decided to go into the chat rooms to see what everyone was always talking about. met alot of cool people and alot of jerks lol. but anyways i ran across this one guy that was simply unbelievable he was the most kindest sweetest most wonderfulest man i had ever had the pleasure of talking to. we became the best of friends. well needless to say i started falling for him, so one day while we was chatting in messenger i just let my feelings fly up the screen. lol i dont know what got into to me it just felt right. well may of 2005 we got together over the net. (mind you we was 800 miles apart)we talked every day. growing closer and closer. well we decided that when i got my taxes in 2006 i would leave the man i was with and come to michigan, which i did. he was absolutely a dream come true. he was every thing i was expecting and more. we moved back to North Carolina and was married in June 06 and i have been the happiest woman in the world every since. :)

LOL not good, he's only 200 miles away, we met online, but it's not going well because in Michigan the roads are bad and can't drive everyday to see someone. If this one doesn't work, which it's not looking like it's going to, I'm looking close to home!

I don't think bad roads are a good excuse. I met my husband back in High School, estranged during college and we met again when we were already working! Now we have a little angel. :)

i'm in a long distance relationship this time..were 5mos and were having a good communication that makes our relationship strong..my boyfriend is in Canada, he is a foreigner and eventhough he's too far from me, but were still communicating by writing emails everyday, sometimes we text and every weekend we do chatting..for me, it's not that difficult because were having met yet and still theres no physical attraction between us..but maybe if one day if he will visit me, that's for sure i will miss him if he will go back to Canada..but for now, i'm contented of the kind of communication that we have..

Success of long distance relarionship depends upon the two persons involved. There are a lot of things to be considered in engaging in a long distance relationship. Take time to know each other and be sure to know the person before engaging a long term relationship.

My husband and I had 10 years long distance relationship. We separate miles away by the ocean and we lived different side of the world. It took about 14 hours flight to each other. We met each other at least one a year. Even though we lived far apart, we managed to keep our relationship solid and we decided to get married six years later.
And now we are together and still love each other and we've been blessed with a beautiful daughter....

I once had a long distance relationship with "my romeo" from Michigan. I met him in one of the dating sites I joined when I was desperate to get a boyfriend. Everything started out well, he introduced me to his daughter (since he was divorced), and to his 3 adopted children. His daughter and I used to talk a lot before and he also used to calling me every now and then. I really thought that was it! But unfortunately, things didn't go my way. He just disappeared without even leaving a word. I tried to get in touched with him, asked his daughter what happened, but until now I still haven't heard any from him. Well, I guess that's just not the way God has planned for me coz months after that heartache, I met my boyfriend who's still with me up to date... :)
