Why should you look at someone with contempt and disrespect and expect to receive anything less in return?

I agree. I once worked with a girl that had her masters degree. She treated me (college prep HS gradute with some college) like I was an idiot. She was always making comments to the affect that I was not as smart as her. It was pretty annoying, especially since she had no street smarts.
I was once in Florida and we needed medicine for our son. I asked a guy in the car next to me if he knew where a wal-mart or a pharmacy was. He said he did not know what a wal-mart was. OK

Personally I've seen this happen but not often. Yes I do have a higher level of learning but to be honest all that means is I know how to look things up in a library. Most I have found do not look down on others although I have met some who do. They think they are better then others which is silly because they aren't. I've known many who do not have higher levels of learning that are far more intelligent then those with the schooling. I've also known many with schooling that have no common sense what so ever. All book learning and no reality learning. It all varies. Yes some might look down on others but not all.
