The problem with gossiping: the buzz mania

Gossiping may be fun and exciting. When you get bored and there is nothing else to talk about, you start sharing secrets just with that one friend and make her promise to keep it to herself when in fact she cannot. Trouble arises when she gets bored and does not keep up to her promise and spills the beans. Before you know it, the network of "one friend" grows into "everybody" in the neighborhood and the secret is the highlight of everyone's conversation. It sounds impossible but it all starts with "Promise me you will not tell anyone". We are all afraid of this. We do not one everyone to know our secrets. Just like celebrities run away from reporters, people might start running away from this kind of gossipers.
