What is original sin?

For Roman Catholics, it is a sin that ORIGINATED (hence the original word)from our ancestors, passed on from generation to generation. It is believed to be inherited by a newborn from his or her parents, and can only be washed out through baptism.

well as far as i know Original sin is a kind of sin we inherit from Adam and Eve when we're born, that's why we need to be baptized inorder for the original sin to be washed away and make to ba free from it.
