Expectations of Relatives Spoil Relationships?

yes it happens in india as we have many relatives who are very close and try to poke nose every where. i am married for three years still relatives expect a lot. they want me to be prim and proper in my house i feel this is sick they take away the freedom. its good to be in a joint family but nobody else should rule our life. its especially my mother in law who wants me to behave the way she does i hate it.
