Ever given anyone false hope?

On American Idol, we often see the most horrible performers surrounded by friends and family who just "knew" they would be going to Hollywood. Now I know they say love is blind, apparently it is also deaf. Do you think those people are all suffering severe hearing loss, is love deaf, or are they just liars? Do you have anyone in your life you encourage to do something that they just aren't good at?
