Some people believe that the best way of learning life is by listening to the advice of family and friends. Other people believe that the best way of learning about life is through personal experience. What do you think the advantages of these two ways? Which do you think is preferable?

I believed that the best way to learn life is by undergoing such experiences in your own. Words coming from parents are often taken for granted as we could not know how would that be, but if its your personal experiences already, you could surely understand and feel such learning process. If you had a first hand experiences you will surely not able to forget it and you would surely be cautious.

Both are advantageous in their own sense.
elders help us avoid mistakes that they did.
our experiences do the same, but we learn after the experience, in case of elders we learn before experience and thus we are saved from the trouble of the experience.
