I just answered some discussion about blindness and I decided to start this discussion for you guy to understand more about blindness.
Am a parent of a blind kid and am part of some association for parents of blind children... our dreams is for our kids to have a brighter future.
How? all parents wants to give their children an excellent education same with our blind kids.
and we support our kids with love and perseverance for them to be an asset of the future generation.
I have other siblings and you know what? my blind son is more responsible and intelligent than them.
for inspite of his blindeness, blind people are gifted with their other senses.
as you can see blind people are now into IT, and other profession using computers and they all succeed in life.
my son is now in kinder and can recite simple poems that a normal student cannot recite, he has a very retentive memory.
for parents out there who has children with disabilities, be proud of your kids, give them the best education and love them unconditionally, do not pity yourself or the child, expose him to people and soon they will realize how lucky we are for having a chgild with disabilities, WHY because God entrusted to us his living angels to reminds us that GOD is there to protect our children.
and BLIND CHILDREN WILL HAVE A BRIGHTER FUTURE.....
we need more understand from people out there, do not pity the child instead discover their talents and special gift and love them

This is really very informative and true. I have worked with such kids and we call them differently abled. I prefer this because it really amazes me that How when a person is deprived of one sense his other senses are more developed. In course of mywork, I have seen kids making amazing drawings or reciting works of various artists just by listening to them. I had a student who could write really good poetry. I worked with kids deprived of full mental development and all of them taught me something or the other. They just have something inside them, that burn like a flame and drives them to overcome what they have been challnged with. I feel sorry for the parents who give up on their kids if they are differently abled becuase trhey miss out on recieving so much love and lessons of life too. I worked with a girl, who was suffering from brain degeration disorder, since she was three year old.I met her when she was sixteen. Everyone at the center told me that she is not co-operative and does not like to do any activity. After spending sometime with her,I obseved she loved flowers si I chose brightest marigolds for her and then started teaching her to make garland out of it. SHe loved that. Her parents had disowned her and she was living with her grandmother. She even made a garland for her grandmother. Her grandma was so pleased after so many years she thought her granddaughter was actually coming out off her shell. It just takes a little understanding and observation to help them succseed in their endeavours. Till now I have not found any kid for whom you can say he can do nothing. They all have some or the other ability. I always think of them as gifts wrapped up. You just have to open them witrh love to find out whats inside. they may surprise you. I wish you all the luck for your kid, I am sure he will do wonders one day.
