Are people really here to make friends?

I have heard alot of people sayiny that they are here to make some money. So the incentive of making and responding to discussion's is money based. How do you know if someone only wants to add you as a friend for networking, not that he or she really cares about what you have to say. In fact, If this site did not offer any money, would anybody really be here to make friends? What do you all think?

My initial impulse to join mylot is for the money. I didn't know I could make friends over here. But when they added me I approve it but honestly am not really into building an empire of friends. Well, right now I've got "discussion friends" who I share thoughts and feelings with but it's far-fetch to think of something more than that.
However, if I meet people here who are from the same city as I am then I think it's a little possible. You never know really.

Thanks for the comment. I think you are right, most people are here for the money too. But If they meet some new people than that is a plus.

i dont think so.but some people are here to make friends as well as money.i from this categories.i dont think this site is not for making friends.for that purpose there is orkut.com.i have made lot of friends from orkut.here i made only 4-5 friends.i think that is enough here.here in mylot caring means responding to discussion,rating.

i don't know what about the other at mylot, but at first i am here because the money then i find some other my lot have realy good respond and beautiful avatars i just can't stop collecting friend, here. some already send me link at my email, but thats ok for me.
i will be sincere at mylot post and entertain them with my jokes. that will help them to open their tired eyes watching monitor and reading discussion all day long.
