Are other people's opinion a good mirror of who we really are?

Some says "no other can know myself better other than myself" Can we be wrong? What do you think? Maybe what others are saying are indications of what we really are? Do you keep an open mind to this?

"Tell me your friends and I will tell about you" is the famous adage. Yes our friends and the opinions of others is a very good mirror of our character and what we are actually. May be some will not be able to judge our character but a casual observer would certainly be able to get our character.

indeed! some are just so closed to this idea and their common arguments are "people are wrong" they don't know who I really am. There may be an element of truth to this but the truth is other persons can see who we really are.

No, i don't think they always are. You have to remember that everyone has thir own oppinions of everything, including of other peoplel and that they all differ. You may find 10 different people all with 10 different oppinions of you, so how could you say they were all a good mirror of how you really are? That's not to say that our own oppinions of ourselves are good mirrors of who we really are ether! Best just to keep an open mind of the person you are in general.

Some people are right at describing us while others who havent got a clue say rubbish. So i think it really depends on the person giving the description, as long as the person isnt shallow enough to give his/her views based on personal feelings.
