Cockfighting: is this cruelty to animals (fowls)?

One well liked game by many Filipino men is cockfighting. Bets can run high up to millions.I'm not sure whether there is one like this in your country.
A very sharp blade is tied to the cock's leg and they are released to fight against each other. Usually the one that gets slashed will give up and end up dead. This looks brutal to others but it's a popular game. What do you think? Is this cruelty?

Yes it is. I've seen some cockfighting on my tv when I was home and made me sick. It's a crime what is doing, they have no right to put animals or birds to kill each others. I don't like any fight and every time I try to work things in other ways.

I think it is much the same to watch human boxing, we should never enjoy others getting hurt at all
