Lending of money or credit card is strictly once personal issue and way of living life.
if you can afford the losses and complications of any height then you definatly can lend any thing not only credit card but any possesion you belong to.
But my ethics is one should plan all financial targets well in advance as well as within once reach.
I understand that the emergency but how do you justify that?
Few get misunderstood if you help them, they need & avail your help frequently.
To avoid this it's better that never help anybody financialy unless it's a medical emergency.

No, that's a good way to risk losing a friend.

As far as I know you can't lend your cheque book or your credit card to anybody. The merchant has to verify your signature at the point of purchase. On the other hand if the merchant and bank overlook this discrepancy in the signature and you accept it as ok, then it is implied that you have given your friend power of attorney to use your credit card.

Absolutely not.
First, I'd never allow the card out of my hands, because that takes away my control of how much is spent.
Second, if I don't have cash onhand, it does not make sense for me to borrow to lend to someone else.

O won't lend my friend my credit card, but I could use it for him or her if it is really badly needed. I would gladly let it be swiped for my friend.
