Groundhog Phil's prediction early spring is on the way. Does this mean anything to you, or are you strictly a TV weather watcher?

I totally trust nature's prediction, which is what Groundhog Day is all about. It's said that the groundhog seeing it's shadow or not determines if Spring is around the corner.... it's not actually about his shadow though. The truth is, they are watching to see if the groundhog hurries back into his hole or searches for food... if he starts searching and eating then Spring is coming because this means he is ready to come out of hibernation. I think it's a cool way of determining how close Spring really is ; )

I am sure hoping that the prediction is right because right now it is 3 below and I don't like all of this cold weather.

I sure hope that Phil is right! LOL I am sick of this cold weather. I want to be able to go to the park with my kids and walk outside and all. I am so tired of sitting inside and watching TV while wearing 14 layers of clothing. :)

Another way of predicting weather is by looking at nature. I have daffodils coming up and some of my flowers have buds already. I also noticed the Robin's are back, so it must be a prediction of Spring weather!

I know what you mean. I don't mind the snow as much as I do the extreme cold temperatures that we have been having.

I generally follow a more scientific approach to weather prediction. I am not sure that either way is accurate, it seems to me that the "so called" experts aren't very good at seeing what is coming either. I don't know the accuracy of Phil's predictions, but I imagiine that the scientists have a slightly better record. It seems that Phil is almost always opposite of the scientific community.

Well if I had to pick which one to call more accurate I would probably pick Phil, seems to me he is better at telling the weather these days than our local weathermen.

Groundhog Day actually is a Scientific approach, in a way. It's not about whether he sees his shadow or not but if he is ready to come out of hibernation that determines if Spring is around the corner. Phil is an animal and has natural instincts to predict the weather ; )
