I think it depends on how understands 'tolerance'. 'Tolerance' of old says something like that it's ok to have difference of opinion whereas tolerance of this day seems to say you can't say that anything or anyone is wrong. I think the former is right 'tolerance'. The latter is the most intolerance of as it does not allow expressions of one's belief.
However, coming your post, I think in the former sense of the 'tolerance' Christianity is more tolerant. Things of the past may be different, but as of now in the Christian world there is freedom of religion which I think is not there in Islam.

It is a difficult question to answer. My belief is that no religion teaches intolerance. It is the wrong interpretation of religious teachings which results in intolerance. If we take violence seen in the name of religion as an indicator then Islam is more intolerant to others views and beliefs. But here again I will say that it is he people and not the religion which is intolerant.
