Stress and Memory Loss

Do you think they are related? I've gone through some major life changes in the past little while and it seems along with some of the things I've lost, my memory left too. I am forgetting silly little things, like why I went to the kitchen or where I left something, or what I came to the store to buy. Do you think it will ever come back? I thought I was dealing quite well with all the things that have gone on, but I'm starting to wonder now.

Did you know your brain is a muscle? And like any muscle, it needs to be conditioned to function at its best. Researchers suggest exercising your brain for at least fifteen minutes each day with activities such as crossword puzzles, card games, learning something new or reading a new author. You can find challenging mental activities such as Sudoku, or a book of math and logic puzzles.

I think the are related too. When I get stressed out my mind goes blank. My mom also had some really stressful months and some bad memory loss. I noticed it and we started to think and figured out it ws the stress.

I've experienced lapses in my memory too especially when I am worried or anxious about somebody or something. It tends to occupy most parts of my thoughts so much so that the mundane things gets crowded out. So now I set a timer whenever I cook anything, put notices where I can see them to remind me of things, key in reminders in my handphone calender so that it will remind me to do certain things on specified days. Could be a midlife crisis too or lack of certain brain foods?

ya when we are over stressed or when we are very tensed about some thing we tend to forget small things. we will be doing some thing but concentrating on some thing else as our concentration is on some thing else we usually tend to forget the things we are doing .again we think what we are doing right now and recollect as u said u forgot the purpose y u came to kitchen actually ur concentration was totally on some thing else during such times we dont remember the things we are doing right now this is all due to high tension or something else is bothering u.and when u recollect the present situation u remember the things u r doing right now.

I find that yes when im stressed and anxious my mind seems a little hazy, as in I forget what i was doing etc. I also get hightened sensitivity to light , but this is also to do with the anxiety i think. I also found though that once i had my son, my memory was affected LOL, i think its because maybe i was always thinking of what next for the baby, feeding, changing, burping etc and our minds are obviously still getting used to incorporating all this new info!. Good luck with it all. :)

That sadly is also a sign of aging. Nothing to worry about. It happens to us all. Stress factors will influence many things, memory included. Welcome to the Old Farts club. Huggers to you.

I think they are related somehow. Although I'm not sure how, but I believe they are. I'm not a doctor, but from vast experience, I tend to forget more when I'm in stress. Like I even sometimes forgot where I put my car keys, I was holding it few minutes before. And it make me even more stress.

yes may be that stress and memory loss are inter related to each other because if u observe u may forget something when u are in a great stress , and when u are having a cool mind and not at all stressed u cant forget anything and u do anything with relaxed mind u get success in that.

it is a natural occurence for everyone, don't you worry. it only tells you that you have a lot of things in mind and trying to do other things aside from that.it takes practice to have that skill.at times that means , we are disorganized.put a syustem in your life then it wil be automated just like a computer.we just have to make use of it often.
