My son was born with Cerebral Palsy almost 27 years ago, we were told he would not live and if he did he would be a vegetable, well as some of you on the site already know, He is a good looking 6 ft tall handsome guy and has his HND in computing and he is now doing a BA and a Bsc at open uni . This is the first poem I ever wrote for him . I hope you enjoy it, And thank you in advance fot taking the time too let me know what you think xxxx
ROSS MY SON
It seems like a very long time ago
I'll tell you this story just so you'll know
I was almost 38 you see
When something fantastic happened to me
I had another little boy
His dad and I we jumped for joy
There was no crying I was worried
Around the ward the nurses hurried
There must be a problem time slowly passed
I held my breath too scared to ask
They put him in an incubator
We got to see him much much later
We sat beside him many days
we sat and looked and we just prayed
our prayers were answered I'm glad to say
We've watched him growing day by day
He's 15 now nice in every way
He still has problems Oh! Yes he does
But he still means the world to us

Your story is so good. God is great. May everyone be as lucky as you. Your poem is good but the story behind it and emotion involved in it make is terrific.

i was touched by your son's story.i admire you because even if the doctors said he wont live that long you still held on to your love for your son.and the poem was so heartfelt. i like it. i know that with the courage that you got and the love that you have you'll overcome these problems that you still have.may God bless you and your son.

Your poem is absolutely beautiful. I was very touched by it.
I´m so glad the doctors were wrong!
Your son is handsome and intelligent.
You must be such a strong, positive person, your son might have sensed this positive energy, this probably helped him a lot with his development.
Lovely discussion topic!
Blessings to you and your family

Very nice poem .. I'm sure it must have been an agonising wait until you were able to take your son home .. and from other discussions and poems I can see how proud you are of you son and what a wonderful young man he is turning out to be ..
You have every right to be proud of him .. !

Hi Weemam what a lovely poem you wrote for you son I bet that he is very happy with this poem, but at the age you had your son this could of been the reason why he was born this way as they do say it is very dangerous to have a child when we are getting on but I am so happy that your son is ok and getting on very well give my love to your son.

A very beautiful poem about someone who is very special to you and who has obviously become a fine young man. I have the greatest pleasure of being friends with someone I met in hosp. while having my 2nd. child and got to know her in our days in the special care nursery as we both had premmies. We kept in contact and there was 4 of us altogether with our babes and as time went on this one was diagnosed as having Cerebral Palsy and has I watched her grow and the processes she went through in that time, she too has grown into a beautful young lady who I admire very deeply and all the "babes" are 23 this year! I am glad for you that your prayers were answered also and out of those prayers came your beautiful son. HUGS!

That was truly a great ode to Ross. He certainly is a miracle, and great for proving the experts wrong. I'm sure you mean the world to him too. He's certainly got special, loving parents, what a lovely 'close' family you have, there are lessons in that to us all. Thank you for sharing.
