I'm here to b!tch and moan about the council, i hate the fact that me and my family keep getting fobbed off all the time and being told that we do not qualify for anything other than a high-rise flat because we dont have enough points in our current living situation to qualify for anything else. Me, my Finace and our 8 month old son are living in his parents spare room crampt with no space and have been for over 12 months now, the council insist that this situation is non urgent and that there are other families in similar and even worse situations than us and that they - the other 8,000 families in simlilar and worse situations - are infront of us on the housing list and are entitled to a better property before us! i was informed that becuase of the high demand for property and shortage of property available we will be waiting on the list for a good 8-10 years to even get tranfered from a high-rise to a low-rise!! sooooo i'm guessing we will be waiting a good 15-20 years before we even get considered for a house!!!
How discusting is that!!!!
I just feel shat on for the fact that i'm an english citizen, born and raised in birmingham, have worked and paid my taxes to be told that load of cr@p!!
I just don't understand why the government feel the need to keep accepting people in to this country when clearly there is NO ROOM!!!
If it takes an english family 8-10 years to get a decent home then how the hell does it take a foregn imigrant just 8-10 days to get an offer of accommodation!!!???!!!

me and my partner had been living in a private bedsit for 3 years, put our name on the list pretty much as soon as we moved in together when i got pregnant we went back to let them know (there was no way i was staying in the bedsit with a baby) they just kept fobbing us off with excuse after excuse. the bedsit we were in was tatty to say the least, we had a leaky celing, the plumming was awful water kept coming up the sink and overflowing i had to keep running upstairs to use the loo as the toilet was on the next floor we had no heating just little heaters cos we couldnt fit any bigger ones in the room. in the end we stopped paying rent (well why should we in that hole?)
the landlord then started eviction proceedings so we went back to the council and said we were being evicted Paige at this time had been born and was around 2 months old, the council told us they couldnt help us as we made ourselfs evicted but said if we changed the areas we would be prepaired to live we would have a better chance of being offered something. when paige was 4 months old we finally got an offer the only problem is now im stuck in what feels like the middle of nowhwere in a seccond floor flat, its nice tho i cant really complain i guess.
i think you need to keep on and on at them and be prepaired to live in the worst areas to get even close to getting help, where i lived before was a really nice up market area with not much going on other than a load of students like everywhere, now i live in an area where you hear police helecopters out like every night.
sorry to drag on lol when ever i hear about the council it makes me mad especially when you walk past empty properties all the time but they wont put anyone in them.

I know how you feel. I was living with my two kids at my parent's house and was told that we would be waiting a minimum of 2 years for anything at all. Apart from anything else, it was the council's fault that we were living at my parent's because the council had illegally evicted me out of my previous council house which I don't know how I managed to get. I think back then, the council were encouraging the whole "family" idea with mum and dad living together so we got the house because it meant we could be a "proper" family. Now, they make no considerations for that kind of thing.
It's pretty obvious that being white and English in England is a bad thing. My oldest son has Polish blood and I am really tempted to start exploiting that fact! Although, his Polish blood is from people who were here legally and have every right to be here so we'd probably still have no more luck!
I would also like to know why there are no houses for white, English people who need them when they can find them for huge foreign families of illegal immigrants. I can honestly say that my local council only has token intelligent people because it's obvious that most positions on the council require people who have failed basic maths and English tests. I think, as long as you are good at bullying people and being a complete moron, you've got every chance of getting a job on a council.
Ps. I don't live in Birmingham but I'm not too far away. I have heard that some councils are quite good so maybe it's just here in the Midlands where the councils don't have a clue.
