eBay questions....any ideas?

I recently started a discussion on how to get rid of all the books I have collected over the years. Someone suggested I sell them on eBay. I think it is a great idea, but I have no clue on how to go about it. Could someone help me out with this on. Is it neccessary to take digital photographs? What costs are involved? Any help would be appreciated.

You would probably do better selling your books at half.com or amazon. They guarantee that you'll be paid and you don't have to fool with photos. You only get paid once a month, so if you're in a hurry, that wouldn't work for you, but when I was doing a lot of book selling, those two sites worked out best for me. You don't pay until the book is sold, and it's a small percentage of the sale. If you have something very unusual that's worth real money, then eBay may be better for getting the top price. But also, on eBay, if your item doesn't sell, you still have to pay the listing fees.

Thank you for the information. I really appreciate you letting me know about the listing fees for eBay. I know that most of the books I have are not worth much, unless you like to read. With half.com or amazon, could I sell books as a lot, I mean maybe 10 or 20 in a group? I am not in any hurry, though it would be nice to get rid of them before I find a house to buy and have to move again.

Books have to be sold one at a time on half.com and amazon. If your books are a kind that are in big demand, selling in lots on eBay can be a good idea, but you have to be sure to add in enough shipping. Another suggestion: if you're not just trying to make room, but would like swap for books you don't have, paperbackswap.com is a very good site. I've been on it a couple of months and really like it. The only cost to you is mailing your book to whoever requests it. You get a credit for each book you send out and can use that for any other book. They do have hardbacks, also.
