I have been hearing alot lately about these negative calorie foods. Sopposely you burn off more calories eating the food than the food contains, so by the time your done eating you have actually taken in negative calories. What does everyone else think on this? I think it's just another fad diet thing.

It is a fact which has been known for years that celery burns off more calories than it gives you. However, eating celery non-stop (or any other such foods) isn't a healthy way of losing weight. All it means is that you won't put on weight crunching away on celery as a snack, so it's healthier to snack on than other calorific options. I think that lettuce belongs to the same family as celery, as both have a mild anaesthetic quality to them (have you ever noticed your mouth getting slightly numb when you eat lots of celery?).

It's not a fad, it's a fact. Negative calorie foods are foods that burn more calories digesting them than they are worth.
