When did you pop the question -- or when did your love?

I was just wondering, for those who are engaged or married, how long were you dating before you got engaged? Do you think it was a good amount of time, or would you have done it sooner? Later?
I've got marriage on the brain right now. It's something that I would love to do in my lifetime. I just wanted to see how long other people were together before they decided to say "I do."

Everyone just assumed we would get hitched and before we knew it, a date was set. He couldn't have been happier about the situation but I felt a little robbed of a romantic propsal. I remember one night we were getting in his truck and I said jokingly, "Well, I guess I'm going to have to get down on MY knee and ask YOU to marry me." All he heard was "marry me" and he replied with a great big grin, "Of course I will sweetie!" and kissed me. I guess I'll never get that proposal but atleast he gave me something to look back at with a smile.

So in answer to your question (in a long about way), just about half a year of being together. Normally I would not suggest such a drastic move in such a short period of time if it had not been for the fact that he and I had had our share of former relationships and by this time now knew exactly what wanted in a mate. And we saw it in eahother. So I guess you just kinda ...know.

My fiance proposed to me when we'd been dating for about a year. It doesn't like long, but it was the right time for us and there was no doubt for either of us that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. We had been extremely close for quite awhile before we officially started dating though. Believe it or not, my grandparents were actually married within just 6 months from the time they met!! They're celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary this year...I guess sometimes you just know! :)

In regards to dating before we got married we were dating for 16 months before we got engaged and after 2 months we were married, yes I think it was a good amount of time as we were living together for this 16 months so we really got to know each other first, but I do not think that we would of got engaged before this.

My boyfriend ask me the day of our 3 years together. I cried so much lol. Now for the marriage we still gonna wait. Beeing engage is enough for me right now :)
I want to have the perfect wedding and we need money for that. Right now we are gonna buy a house :P
