I don't see why cell phones shouldn't be allowed in school . I know where my children go they don't have a pay phone to use and when they need to use the office phone they have to wait for someoen and then exlain what they actaully need the phone for and if they want to stay after school for something they get yelled at for not finding out the night before (but they may not have known something was going on the night before ). As long as all cell phones were turned off during class time , I don't see why there would be a problem .

No, I don't think student should be allowed to carry cellphones in schools. It's distracting to the learning process. When I was a kid, we didn't have cellphones and we got along just fine - we got in touch with our parents and friends without needing the wee nuisance of a cellphone.

They should be allowed in the halls but not in the classrooms because it would be a nuisance to the classmates and if the child had to speak to someone urgently he just step out into the hall and talk on the phone. That way its convenient for both the class and the student.

It depends on what you're asking. Allowed to be used during school hours? No, I don't think so. That's very distracting and not in any way relevant to the learning that should be going on in school.
But if you mean should cellphones be allowed to be carried on the person of a student, then I say yes, emphatically. There are a lot of reasons for before or after school purposes that a student would need to have access to their cellphone.
