Problems with Intenet Explorer

My mom just called me and says that her computer will get online, but when she tried to open internet explorer it will not open all of the way ,it will start and then stop and says not reponding at the top. What could be causing this? Her computer is 1 month old. It is something with the internet explorer isnt it?

i recently installed the updates to my internet explorer and it hasnt worked right since. i had to just quit using it. i use firefox now. i still havent unistalled it though and sometimes it still pops up and my whole computer freezes.
