Drama of a adoptive family who don't want to let go the child they taking care.

Here in Portugal a mother gave her child to a adoptive family take care and for years ago that family takes care of she like she was her daughter. But in November/December the real father (who is a little bit junkie) of the child appear on tv to take back the child. The adoptive family have escaped with the child to another country but the adoptive father was caught by the police and he's locked down. What do you think about that? Do you think the adoptive family should continue to take care of the child or should his real father take care of him? Do you think that the adoptive father must have to be locked down? I hope you understand what I wrote. Sorry about my poor english.
