Lady in the Water is supposed to be a bed time story for children. Are the images brought forward too scary? I think this film is not intended for children and should not be marketed as such. I'm not even sure the book is appropriate. What do you think? Anyone?

The movie is not ment for kids. However, the book is much better suited for children. It does make a good bedtime story. It reminds me of the stories my dad use to tell us at bed time about the Jersy Devil and other random creatures.

Lady in the Water was *based* on a bed time story. It was never marketed as a movie for children - it was rated PG-13 after all. The inspiration came from a story that Shamyalan told his kids, but I never saw anything anywhere actually trying to market the movie as appropriate for children. It warned for violence and adult content and was marketed as a soft horror film.
