If your child was to bring home a puppy or kitten without asking you first, would you allow your child to keep it?
I know I would, I'm a sucker for animals full stop. So to give a puppy or kitten away once it's been brought home to me, just wouldn't happen!

Man if we had kept every hurt abandoned animal my boys have brought home over the years I would need a farm by now. We have over the years kept a few of them but mostly we would clean them up give them thier shots fatten them, and make sure that they were again healthy and happy. For my children then, hunting down the perfect home became thier responsiblity. They got quite good at it to, there is nothing as stronge as a childs sense of kindsness in animal lovers. We have nursed everything from wild baby rabbits to two orphaned skunks... shesh that was fun OH MY GOSH. The skunks ended up in the vets office as his mascots, minus a couple of scent glands. One of them is still there today.

well.. it really depends.. i mean first things first is to find where it came from and see if its lost.. if its not "claimed" it would really depend on the animal's temperament becuase ive got a 2 year old and a cat.. so i mean if he/she was good natured, friendly with the cat, and not TOOOO BIIGG!! ..lol.. maybe

I am a sucker for animals too, but if my kids brought one home, I would have to say no. I have a cat already and she doesn't like dogs or other cats and I think she would get fairly stressed out if I did that to her. She is even scared of my chickens. I just hope that if my kids brought one home that I didn't see it for too long, otherwise I would probably soften up and let them keep it.

If it was a puppy yes we would keep it ! ( I stay that in the present) If it were a kitten, no we would not be able to keep it. I'm not a cat person and neither is my husband but mostly because my oldest daughter and I are highly allergic to cat dander. I would help to find it a good home or bring it to a reputable animal shelter who could find it a good home.

Oh heck yes, the more the merrier...lol I love all animals. We have 2 dogs,2 ferrets, 4 inside cats 7 outside cats, 3 birds and hermit crabs. I'm getting a new puppy next week. You can see some of my pets in my profile. The reason we even have cats is because 35 years ago my sister brought home a stray...and they continue on to this day..lol

Probably, any excuse would do. But I’d make sure the puppy or kitten was properly wormed, and the kid had whatever oversight needed so you don’t wind up with ringworm, etc.
Actually, a kid forming a bond with a puppy or kitten is most likely a sign they’re ready for that phase. Saying “no” could send a message that you don’t think they can handle it. “Big responsibility” talks are necessary, but you’ve probably got a receptive audience.
Anyway, kids and puppies and kittens are so much fun. Any excuse, from any perspective.
