My thoughts on how to lose weight and how to keep it off....

I've been thinking about this topic for a while now and trying to figure out what I've been doing is working or not. During this time I sort have developed a theory / analogy to help explain it to myself. The funny thing is, the more I've been thinking about it, the more sense it makes to me anyways... :) So here goes.. (don't laugh.. ;)
My theory is this... imagine your body is like a car, sort of the characters in the movie Cars. You muscles are like the car engine. Your existing body fat, is like the gas in the car. The act of being driven is like physical activity such as running, walking, biking, etc. The style of car your are is based on your body shape, eg sports car, bus... (I told you not to laugh...)
The bigger the engine, the more gas you use.
If you are a bus, but have a tiny engine, you don't really do anywhere.
A big engine in a bus uses a lot of gas.
A big engine in a sports car uses a lot of gas too, but you can go really fast.
A sports car with a big engine that only brags about how big the engine is, and is never actually driven doesn't use any gas either.
So, even if you are a bus or a sports car, you require a decent engine, as well as being taken for a drive.
Ok, there you go, my analogy on how to lose weight... I hope you are still not laughing at this point. So, what do you think???

Thanks.. :) Basically all I've been doing is a few light weights to slightly increase my engine site, so when I go for a walk, or bike ride I'm using a little more gas up... It seems to be work so far for me...

Actually, I like your analogy very much. Plain and simple - the diet theory just doesn't work. People are lied to by a medical community that says we should diet and lose weight. Truth is, diets don't work --- you diet - lose weight - go back to the way things were - put the weight back on with a few more extra as bonus - change your metabolism to slow slow slow and when you diet again - it gets harder and harder every time. Diets do not work!
Best thing one can do is figure out their "car" body type, their "engine" metabolism type and eat the foods they like to eat - only less and exercise accordingly.
Thanks for sharing your analogy. Maybe you and I should collaborate and write a "non-diet" diet book. :)

Your spot on there. If we increase our metabolism via eating properly and exercise, dieting becomes a thing of the past. Since I have started this way I have lost weight (don't know how much, don't care either.. but I know I have..) and I'm eating what I want. No complaints here :-)
