What is it in stars that stir up melancholic emotions when we look at them?

I don't know why and what power they have, but those twinkling celestial objects do have a power to stir our hearts up with sad sad notes deep inside everytime we look up at a starry sky.

Even I too feel lot of emotions when I see stars in the night.
They give the feeling of how big the world is. When we get that feeling we compare ourselves with them, and get to understand that we are just small part of this whole universe.
Also we heard that stars are not permanent and perishes some day. When stars, which are central to the universe, also die, what about the humans. Such sort of emotions will touch the heart.
Apart from that the joy of watching shining light on the sky gives us sort of eternal happiness :)
