Not wanting to open a can of worms, but in some parts of the world, women are seen as possessions, belongings, and not as individual people with needs and wants. Sad.

It's sad, but clownfish is right. Some places in teh world see it that way. And sometimes men are raised to believe it's true. And as sally said, sometimes it is out of a desire to protect or shelter. But it's just annoying most of the time.

My hubby and I are partners. Neither tells the other what to do.

What a derogatory thing to say. I see far more women dictating their loved ones then I do men. Just because you've had a bad experience with men doesn't mean the rest of us have. There are plenty of fine men out there that treat women in their lives with great love and respect. Sadly though, I see many, many women trying to dominate everything in their lives.

The men who are like this like the feeling of power they have when they feel like they are in control of someone else. It may be because they never felt in control when they were a child or it may be because they watched their father be a domineering parent. However, not ALL men are like this. The right one will treat you well and with respect.
