Do you post NO discussions at all? Why?

I have encountered a few myLotters who have not started even one single discussion and only responding to discussions from other members. However, I found their responses are qualified!
Guys, can you share why you prefer do that? Don't think other people would be interested to know your thoughts and insights too from the discussions you start?

I have never posted a discussion. I don't see the point. Mylot states in the guidelines that they will delete duplicate posts. The chances of asking something that hasn't been asked before is too slim. They delete enough of my answers as it is because of deleting questions that were asked before that I had no idea were asked before. I am now very choosy about what I answer and don't stray too much from medical questions. I feel I am safer answering those as there aren't too many of those that are duplicated plus, as an R.N....with more than 30 years experience, I am qualified to answer them. So, in short, I don't post any discussions simply for self-preservation. I am tired of seeing my points drop each time I come here (due to deleted questions...when the question gets deleted, so does my answer). The constant drop in points also keeps my star level low.

Hi ilse72, coming from you, this reply is exactly what I want to receive! Your profile is one of those which I mentioned in my discussion above =) Thank you!
I am not aware that myLot will delete the post because I've seen so many duplicated post so to speak. I have no idea which post they will delete. Thanks for this sharing. I hope when myLot sees how qualified your answers are they will increase your star rating!

Thank you for your kind words. I have been so frustrated lately that I don't answer as much as I used to. It is really disheartening to come in and see your score drop all the time since it takes time to type a clear, concise answer. I just keep hoping that things will straighten out. I'm so glad you have not had any problems!

The pleasure is truly mine! And although so far I've had no problems, but maybe one day I will that's why your sharing is valuable to me and to other myLotters. But just keep it going and try to post discussions on your expertise. Even I am interested to know what you can share being and R.N. and working at E.R., honestly! Besides, you see the comments from your friends, how they appreciate your discussions, it's worth more than just a rating, right?

i must addmit, i only start a discussion if i feel i have something to say to the mylot community as a whole. Therefore ill maybe only start one discussion for about every 100 i answer. For me i just dont like starting discussions just for the sake of it, maybe this is the same for others

I've seen other myLotters who share the same view like you. Fewer discussions posted compare to discussions responded. I agree with your view about starting meaningful discussions. I've seen some of your posts and they're qualified. Please keep bringing quality to myLot community! Thank you for sharing!

I do more responding to discussions...But I have started a few, but I have a hard time coming up with something that I really want to discuss. I find it is easier for me to respond to someones discussion. Also I don't want to be told that I copied someones idea for a discussion. I have seen so many people do the same discussion over and over. Sure some of the wording is not the same as the other persons. But it is still like they copied someones...I really have more fun responding...

Thank you CatVegas for the response!
Yes, I think I can understand you about having more fun responding because for some part it's easier to do so. But I think eventhough discussions posted is similar yet the responder may well be different resulting in different outcome.

But don't you think it also takes time to reply? Sometimes you need to select which discussions you will want to respond to. Besides, when people appreciate your reply and want to also contribute to your discussions to increase your rating star, they cannot do that. So unfortunate for your own benefit. Especially when you have limited time only to spend. This way you only work hard alone when you can actually get help from other who respond to your discussions.

Thanks abhay10 for your response. Let me share a bit. Your pay will increase if your rating is good. And your rating will be good if you get people rate you. See what I just told Tombol above. May your journey with myLot will get richer as you travel here in myLot, welcome aboard!
