Best batsman in the world over the last five or six years is Ricky Ponting, with Lara, Hayden, Kallis, Dravid and Gilchrist following him. Ponting is the best and the remaining in any order of preference.
Sachin misses out the list by a country mile. By the virtue of his form over the last six years he cannot be regarded as the best batsman in the world or anywhere near that level except for reputation and his marketing ability
For India in test match cricket Rahul Dravid is the greatest matchwinner after Gavaskar.
