I've already expressed my feeling about the recent film about pride and prejudice...I didn't like it very much, mainly because of the hurry they had to end up with the film in the end alterating everything magic that the book conveys...anyway, I do really enjoy the actor that acts as Darcy..I think he is really convincing...what do you think about this?

I think I'm a 'Pride and Prejudice' freak. lol
I have the DVDs of the BBC version, the old version before the BBC version (I forgot the year, but the customs were really old fashion), and also the new remake of the movie of First Impression (it was the original title of 'Pride and Prejudice').
I also have the book (hard copy of this novel) and I read the online book of this Austen Jane's novel twice. :D
I like the book, but I love the movie, more.
The best one is the BBC version. Because the one who plays Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy are so convincing.
The remake one, I like Mr Darcy, but I think Keira Knightley didn't act as good as the Elizabeth Bennet on the BBC version one.
But overall, I could see all those movies over and over and over and over again. hahaha.
I just love Pride and Prejudice. I like the happy ending story.

Yeah people talk about Sense and Sensibility. They said if I wathced PP movie, I might have like SS better.
However, I haven't seen this movie. I'm scared, if I watch the SS, that I would like it better that PP. hahaha..
But anyhow, when I get the time, I'll try to see it. (fingers crossed)

welcome to the group of the Pride and Prejudice addicted...I have the book near my bed because it is my favourite or surely one of my favourite...I have to see that BBC version you're all talking about...need to have a look at the local shops here in Rome..maybe I can find it...I do agree with you..Keira is so far from Elizabethe how can be Italy and America (and we can become closer via the net!!!) I like watching romantic films and I watched this one many times, but I prefer Sense and Sensibility (the film was with Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet)...I find it is a good version of the book...what do you think?
have a nice day and hear from you soon

i think you have to run the risk...and have a look at that film...it is better than the one about PRide and Prejudice!!! according to me of course...as the book is regarded, Pride and prejudice is the best of course even though Sense and Sensibility is a good book

The recent version is not my favorite, I like the BBC version better. It follows the magic of the book more. But I agree with you about Matthew Macfayden. He was certainly able to capture the essence of Darcy. He looked so stern, just how Darcy would look. I think he had the best performance in the movie. Although, the woman who played Caroline Bingley was very good too. She was so obnoxious.

I've asked a friend if I can borrow the DVD. I plan on putting it on YouTube. But my friend is out of town now, so it might be a week or two. When I have uploaded it I'll PM you so you can watch it. It's so beautiful, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I saw the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice with Kiera Knightly and Matthew MacFadyen for the first time last night. It was better than I expected, but then I didn't have high expectations anyway. I will always love the BBC version. Kiera is a good actress but just wasn't Elizabeth and Matthew did fine as Darcy. The biggest problem for me was that they just didn't have time in two hours to capture all the subtle twists and elegance of a Jane Austen plot.

I am always re reading the book but even though I bought the DVD I am not watching the film any more because I get annoyed about all the mistakes they made...I wish I could see the BBC version you are all talking about...here in Italy we didn't see it and I am convinced that you are right seeing how many of you loved it
