At the site of the infamous Cronella Beach, Australian Muslim women have launched the Burkini, garment that allows moslem women to go out and swim in the beaches.

Do you think this will liberate Muslim women from their bondage to the burka?

I never cease to be amazed by the human ability to come up with solutions to "problems," regardless of whether or not there really IS a problem.
I haven't read all the third-party discussions, but wouldn't conservative clerics condemn the whole idea of women going into the ocean in a public place as something awful to be avoided?
It does make one ponder....

Believe me there is a problem for Muslim women. Based on an interpretation of the Koranic Verses, their mullahs, muftis (priests) dictate what women's attire should be.
Musilim women therefore need to find innovative solutions to be "free" to do things while conforming to the dictates of clergy - lest they be considered apostates.

These Burkinis are really cute also. I see nothing wrong with this at all. It is certainly more practical for the women than the traditional burka, although I suspect that the Muslim women will now gradually insist on even more western-style of beachwear over the years to come. Why shouldn't they be able to enjoy swimming and water sports? There is nothing at all wrong with enjoying the beach and the beautiful weather that was created by God.

A thought and a half I should say, considering the uproar that is happening with this. The issues are that when wet, the contours of the body show up, and that acts as temptation for bestial males.
Thanks for the post.
