Dumb Question?..I have nothing against those who like to go out, have a few drinks, etc, -We all do from time to time.. My question here is -Alcohol is a Drug. And under the guidelines of the Government, it is legal for consumption. Yet when you look at what destruction intoxication can do, ie- DUI's, liver damage, altered perception of reality that can lead to dangerous & reckless behavior, addiction, increased spousal/child abuse, death, and on and on -I don't really see the BIG difference between it and other drugs which are illegal? Can someone truly enlighten me here as to the real difference~?

I'd love to have a better response here, but I really don't know why it's legal at this point. I've watched so much bad come out of drinking...When I was 18, I got married{big mistake for me,but anyway} I stayed with my inlaws for a few months while hubby was at bootcamp. I was volunteering at the senior center, and met the grandmother of a horrible story that I'd read about in the paper a few months prior; Her son,his wife and 2 kids were driving out to see HER for Christmas eve, when a drunk driver went BACKWARDS on the off ramp and managed to kill the entire family{except the father} and walked away without a scratch himself! And this was about 15 years ago in NM... Not much to surprise me any more :( Lela
