Teething Brushing

Does anyone here routinely brush their dogs teeth? I have tried with a toothbrush, but they hate it. I got these little things that go over your finger tip, but they are not working very well either. Any suggestions on how to make it easier for me to get them to want to brush? I think they are afraid of the toothbrush, but I need extra help with plaque.

Pets shops sell denta rasks and various other doggy teeth cleaning chews and toys that are probably a whole lot easier to use than having to keep your dog still while you try to brush its teeth! I know they do special doggy toothpaste in some pet shops but its just easier to get a dental chew.
